We held our first ‘Play Day’ at Culford School in February. The day consisted of intense rehearsals with breaks for refreshments and a buffet lunch, culminating in a short, informal concert to family and friends. It was wonderful to see such a diverse group of musicians all pull together to create a cohesive band. They came from many different local areas and ensembles, with ages ranging 16 to 60+ and achieved an outstanding level of performance in such a short space of time. New friendships were forged and everyone enjoyed tackling new and sometimes quite challenging music. Some played their very first solo with a band and others re-ignited their passion for music after returning to it after a break. Some of the music performed included: Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (Arr. M Story), Highlights from the Jersey Boys (Arr. M Brown), A Tribute to Amy Winehouse (Arr. Peter Kleine Schaars) and probably the most challenging of the day, Cassiopeia (Carlos Marques)
